Anglo-Chinese School ship portrait, oil on canvas, depicting the three masted British sailing ship "Gantock Rock" at sea. Housed in a birdseye maple frame. Sight – 17 1/2" H x 23" W. Overall – 21 1/2" H x 27" W. Late 19th century. History: This three masted iron sailing ship was built in 1879 by McMillan Dumbarton and was originally called "Macleod". She was sold in 1891 to James Cornfoot for his "Rock" Line and renamed "Gantock Rock". She was subsequently sold to a Norwegian buyer around 1909 and was broken up around 1923.
