Tom Nicholas (Massachusetts/Connecticut, born 1934) oil on canvas still life painting titled "Brass, Porcelain and Brocade" depicting three different vases with flowers atop a table with bright red and gold brocade covering. Signed lower right "Tom Nicholas N.A.". Housed in a molded gilt frame with linen liner and gilt fillet. Sight – 15 3/8" H x 19 3/8" W. Framed – 26" H x 30" W. American, 20th century. Provenance: Estate of Larry Casey, Jackson, Tennessee. Biography: Tom Nicholas was born in Connecticut and studied with Erenst Lehrmann and at the School of Visual Arts in New York. His paintings have won awards from the Rockport Art Association (1957 Young Artist Prize, 1959 First Prize) and the New York Salmagundi Club, among others, and he is a member of the National Academy of Design. CONDITION: Light overall craquelure to canvas, otherwise very good condition.
