Tamarind Institute portfolio, “Artists’ Impressions, 1989-1991,” with 20 of the originally-included 24 lithographs. Includes lithographs by Clinton Adams, Garo Antreasian, Walter Askin, John Beerman, William Brice, Larry Brown, Squeak Carnwath, Robert Colescott, James Davis, James Drake, Margo Humphrey, Gendron Jensen, Roberto Juarez, Joy Laville, George McNeil, Mary Ristow, David Row, Italo Scanga, Juane Quick-to-See Smith, and Steven Sorman. All housed along with colophon in paper sleeves with printed artists’ names on covers and within a black clamshell portfolio box. All signed and numbered 21/30 and all with Tamarind and printers’ chop marks. All sheets approx. 12 in x 12 in. Box: 14 in H x 13 3/4 in W x 1 3/4 in D. Note: According to the portfolio’s colophon, “Artists’ Impressions, a suite of twenty-four original lithographs, was initiated to honor Tamarind’s thirtieth anniversary…The editions were printed by hand from stone and aluminum plates at Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico, between February 1989 and June 1991. Each edition includes thirty arabic numbered impressions, ten roman numbered impressions, two or three Tamarind Impressions, and a bon a tirer. Trial proofs are recorded in the edition documentation at Tamarind. The editions are printed on a variety of occidental and oriental papers.” NOTE: The lithographs by Christopher Brown, Ed Ruscha, Hollis Sigler, and June Wayne originally included in this portfolio are also featured in this auction, each framed and offered individually.
