1st & 2nd items: Pair of English, likely Staffordshire, “Honey” and “Tamarinds” apothecary jars with cobalt and gilt decoration and bud finials. Honey jar has cobalt blue painted “12” on interior base and lid. 12 1/2 in. incl. lid H x 7 in. D. 19th century. 3rd item: English stoneware “Leeches” apothecary jar with perforated domed lid and pedestal base. Exterior finial and two shaped handles. Interior perforated lid. Height: 10 in. including lid x 4 1/2 in. D. Late 19th century. Note: Jars have fragments of red label reading ex: Max M. Warsaw Collection (Chicago).
PROVENANCE: The estate of Dr. Ian M. Mathison, Murfreesboro TN and Big Rapids, MI.
CONDITION: 1st & 2nd items: Cracks on the Tamarinds lid and rim, and to rim on the Honey jar. Heavy crazing on both jars. Masking tape labels with E-22 and E-23 in ink, referencing inventory numbers from a private collection. 3rd item: Leeches jar has old repaired crack to one handle, some staining and crazing. and a chip below the interior lid.
