1st item: Chinese carved wood Guanyin figure on a naturalistic base. 17 1/2"H. 2nd item: Polychrome Boddhisattva figure standing on a carved polychrome plinth, with later added oval wood base. 18" overall (including 3/4"H base) x 8"W x 5"D. Both items early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The estates of sculptor Olen Bryant and late Vanderbilt University art professor Thomas Brumbaugh, Clarksville/Cottontown, Tennessee. Bryant derived inspiration for many of his sculptures from Asian carvings.
CONDITION: Both items with some surface wear and wood shrinkage cracks; the second figure has some small losses to toes.
