Large figural porcelain sculpture designed by the German artist Gunther Granget for Lorenz Hutschenreuther, titled “The Challenge”, depicting a pair of great blue herons in a nest. The male is modeled with outstretched wings in a protective posture, guarding his mate and a single egg in the nest. Numbered 30/200 underside of base with incised “Gunther Granget” signature to side. Fitted with a round black wood stand. Sculpture: 20 1/2 in. H x approx. 18 in. W. Stand measures 3 1/2 in. H x 12 in. dia. Note: Case Auctions sold “The Challenge” number 55/200 in our Winter 2026 auction, lot 353.
