Pair of two (2) Chinese red silk panels, embroidered in Forbidden Stitch with various colors including gold metallic threads. Each panel is centered by a five-toed dragon chasing a flaming pearl; precious object and butterfly decoration above and below the dragon and foliate corners, all within a foliate ribbon border. Float mounted on gold cardstock and framed in giltwood frames with gilt mattes. Panels: 18" H x 14" W. Framed: 24 1/4" H x 20 3/4" W. Late Qing Dynasty, late 19th to early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Gerry Sadow, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: One in overall good condition with losses to right margin ribbon border. The other with scattered minor losses to border, loose threads to flaming pearl.
