American school bust portrait painting of a young woman with dark curled ringlets and brown eyes, against a plain brown background. The face is painted with great detail while her shoulders, dress, and background are rendered loosely. Unsigned. Housed in a plain dark stained wood frame. Sight: 15 7/8" W x 20 1/2" Framed: 20 7/8" W x 25 1/8" H. 19th Century.
CONDITION: Some areas of abrasions to neck and background, not affecting subjects face. Some inpainting to perimeter of subject's hair, and scattered inpainting to bust, face, and background. Some flea bite sized flakes. Light overall grime. Several spots of wear to frame.
