Possibly a local Knoxville artist. 2nd item: Oil on canvas maritime painting titled “Herreshoff Eagle” depicting a sailboat sailing in the ocean, a second sailboat visible in the background, rendered in a heavy impasto technique. Titled and dated “1971” en verso of canvas. Bennett Galleries, Knoxville, TN label en verso of brown paper backing. Housed in a contemporary giltwood frame. Sight: 19 3/4″ H x 15 1/2″ W. CONDITION: 1st item: Area of flaking in lower-left corner and some scattered areas. Areas of abrasion in upper and lower edge, and abrasion on left edge from wear against frame. Bowing to board. 2nd item: Overall good condition with slight surface grime and areas of paint flakes/loss, largest 1/2″ x 1/2″, primarily to main sail of sailboat. Buckling to canvas, primarily to top left quadrant.
