Partial framer’s label en verso for Harry Coughey, a Toronto gallery. 1st item: Hard stone intaglio, likely carnelian, bearing monogram or royal cypher, possibly “GR” or Georgius Rex, within an incised shield beneath a crown. 3/4 in. H x 1/2 in. W. 2nd item: Unsigned hard stone intaglio, likely carnelian, depicting 2 neoclassical profiles wearing laurels. 3/4 in. H x 3/4 in. W. 3rd item: Attr. Luigi Pichler (Rome, 1773-1854), hard stone intaglio, likely carnelian, bust of Pope Pius VII, signed lower right “PIX.” a Cyrillic abbreviation for Pichler. 3/4 in. H x 7/8 in. W. 4th item: Attr. Nathan Marchant (British, 1839-1816) amber-color glass intaglio with male neoclassical profile, marked Marchant on left side. 1 in. H x 3/4 in. W. 5-6th items: Unsigned pair of red glass intaglio with battle scenes, including two horsemen engaged in battle, 7/8 in. W x 5/8 in. H, and a chariot with 4 horses (quadringa), 3/4 in. W x 1/2 in. H. 7th: Attr. Nathan Marchant (British, 1839-1816) opaline-color glass intaglio with female neoclassical profile, marked Marchant on left side. 1 in. H x 3/4 in. W. Framed: 9 in. H x 6. in. W. All mid-19th century or earlier.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville collection.
CONDITION: Overall good condition, with small surface scratches and fleabites around edges. 7th item has surface dirt and a vertical crack in the top center. Not examined out of frame.
