1st item: Charles Francis Browne (American, 1859-1920) oil on canvas impressionist landscape, depicting a grove of trees in a meadow with gold and green grass in the foreground. Signed "C.F. Browne" lower right corner. 14 1/2" H x 21 1/2" W. 2nd item: 19th century oil on canvas pastoral landscape depicting a woman on a pathway tending sheep with a large tree left foreground and open field in the background. Signed E. Elsworth lower right and dated '97. 14" H x 20" W. Provenance: Private Kentucky collection.
CONDITION: 1st item: Painting is in need of restoration. Cross shaped tear to center of canvas with slits measuring 3" and 2". 2" scratch above signature. Canvas is loose on stretcher and shows grime. Other scattered scratches and inclusions. Sticker adhered to lower right corner under signature. 2nd item: Large area of repair approximately 6" x 4" in right center sky area. 1/8" puncture lower center at bottom edge. Bucking with 1" tear at upper right edge of canvas. Overall grime. Edges taped.
