English fusee movement pocket watch, works by Robert Roskell (British, active 1790-1847). Watch is key wound with a porcelain face having black markers. Housed in an 18K swing out style gold case marked T.B N.Y, possibly for T.B. Bynner, together with the number 18, an eagle hallmark, and 1842. Works cover is additionally engraved Josiah Crane, Craneville, NJ. Gross weight of the watch is 140.8 grams. Note: Josiah Crane Sr. (1791-1873) was born in Westfield, Unison, New Jersey, and founded Crane's Mills on the Rahway River. The farm and village were named for him. Eventually, the name was changed to Cranford.
CONDITION: Not functioning at time of inspection. Needs cleaning. Minor hairlines to lower edge of porcelain clock face. Key not present.
