Continental, likely Belgian tall case clock, oak, with arched bonnet having applied carved acanthus ornamentation, arched hood door, silvered brass dial engraved "Stilmount Cobbes 1789", with additional small dial (possibly a calendar ring); 8 day brass works, paneled sides and waist door with oval glass window; original brass hinges and hardware; paneled base with canted and bombe corners with applied carved acanthus ornaments. 98 1/2"H x 23 5/8"W x 13"D. Late 18th century. Condition: Lacking glass and one weight, some spandrels loose on dial; some minor staining to wood just below door. Pendulum (retained, with dents) has been removed and interior waist section fitted with bracket and shelves. Some oxidation and polish residue to dial. Small loss to edge molding at left corner, waist section, and small loss to applied carving on left side of base. Scattered shrinkage cracks.
