Lot 294: Antique Tekke Turkmen Main Carpet, circa 1870's

Antique Tekke Turkoman main carpet, wool on wool, central field design of 6 rows of 12 guls, each end with diamond design borders. Woven in brick red, blue, salmon, and cream colors. 9ft 4in x 7ft 7in. Circa 1870's.

PROVENANCE: Private Des Moines, Iowa collection.

CONDITION: Overall good condition with uneven pile wear, heavier pile wear to lower end. Wear/losses to both margins and fringed ends, top margin fitted with a rod pocket for hanging.
