The area west of the Mississippi River is shown only as Louisiana. Image 6" x 7 1/4", Sheet 6 1/2" x 8 1/4". 2nd item: Abraham Bradley Jr., MAP OF THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, drawn and engraved for Morse's American Gazetteer, Boston, 1797. Sheet 8-1/2" H x 15-5/8" W. 3rd item: A MAP OF THE UNITED STATES AND PART OF LOUISIANA, attr. Richard Brookes or Guthrie, c. 1808, engraved by William Kneass. Undated map published shortly after the Louisiana Purchase showing the Mississippi Territory as well as "Tennassee" and other Southern states, the Mississippi River and several inaccurate depictions of rivers in the Mississippi Territory, which had yet to be fully explored and charted. 11 1/4" x 8 5/8" sheet, 10 1/2 " x 8 1/4" image. Unframed. 4th item: Excerpt from an unknown book, titled TERRITORY SOUTH OF OHIO or the TENNESSEE GOVERNMENT. Pages 527-534, discussing the geography, climate, animals, commerce, Indians, Militia, revenue, character, manners and dress of Tennessee circa 1791. 8" x 10". Provenance: The estate of Dr. Benjamin H. Caldwell, Nashville, Tennessee. CONDITION: All items sealed in plastic sleeves. 1st item: Top margin trimmed into plate, ragged lower edge, relatively little toning, possibly deacidified. 2nd item: Toning and foxing throughout, 3 vertical folds. 3rd item: 1 3/4" x 1/2" loss at left corner, 2 small losses to lower right edge under 1/4"L; folds, toning, and foxing. 5" separation along right vertical fold line. 4th item: Very good condition with light toning.
