Rare Sheraton inlaid mahogany Standing Desk, also known as a "Stand Up Desk" or Collector's Cabinet Desk. Tall rectangular case having brass gallery and a slant front top with reeded edge, opening to reveal a fitted interior with string-inlaid central prospect door and four pigeon holes with scalloped valances, atop a reeded base. Hinged and inlaid faux two-door front, opens on chain supports to reveal a green leather writing surface and a bank of eight one-half length drawers above one full length drawer. Curved apron with string inlaid edges, reeded stiles and four tall turned and reeded tapering legs. Old, previous owner label on back inscribed "Revd. Dr. Wilson, New Place House, Southampton." 50 1/2" H x 27 1/2" W x 20 3/4" D. English, circa 1800. Purchased from Gary E. Young Antiques, Centreville, MD, 1977. A copy of the sales receipt is available to the winning bidder.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Older refinish, some surface wear and scratching. Leather replaced.
