Shiro Wake (Japanese, 1925 -1988) oil on canvas painting depicting a wooded landscape with trees, likely the grounds of Saihoji (Kokedera) Temple in Kyoto, rendered in heavy impasto, 1966-67. Signed "Ciro" and inscribed in Japanese, lower right. Additionally signed "Shiro Wake" in Japanese and dated "66-67" en verso, plus Japanese inscription. Housed under plexiglass in a modern wood frame with gilt fillet. Sight: 25 1/4" H x 20 1/2" W. Frame: 33 9/16" H x 29" W.
CONDITION: Excellent condition. Upper-left corner of frame is loose but stable.
