Earliest entry is dated 1829 and discusses the initial organization of the church. Another entry references an 1840 visit by Samuel Doak, a noted Tennessee Presbyterian clergyman and educator, who was a pioneer in the movement for the abolition of slavery. He petitioned the church to help with the reorganization of Washington College (an academy that Daok founded).
