Large George III or Continental overmantel or trumeau mirror. Upper section with an oil on canvas landscape painting depicting a hunter on horseback with two dogs in pursuit of a hare, over a lower rectangular mirror. Both sections are enclosed by a projecting gilt cornice with reeded pilasters at each side, all set on a green painted ground. 60 3/4 in. H x 38 3/4 in. W overall. Painting measures 46 1/2 in. H x 25 in. W. Late 18th to early 19th century.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Painting with darkened varnish and light craquelure with a vertical abrasion to the left side. The frame with crack at left side and mirror plate with losses to silvering.
