19th century French Empire style giltwood barometer case having a carved and pierced foliate and globe pediment and palmette carvings around the octagonal barometer paper dial with French writing describing the weather conditions and a black metal hand. Dial signed "Par Chevalier" lower margin. 37 3/4" H x 18" dia. x 3" D.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Sarah Gaunt, Signal Mountain, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Lacking barometer works; not functional. Dial likely repainted or replaced. Decorative elements in overall good condition.
