Diminutive George III Gothic Style Bookcase on Chest, oyster veneer with oak and pine secondary woods; two part construction. Upper cabinet: rectangular flat top with overhanging molded cornice featuring a repeating Gothic arch design. Two rectangular glazed doors with moulded muntin divisions in a Gothic arch design, opening to reveal a mauve velvet lined interior and two fixed wooden shelves. One door with lock and cartouche shaped escutcheon. Lower section: cabinet with an overhanging serpentine moulded top over four conforming long drawers in graduated sizes, with bronze swag and rosette handles. Overall: 66" H x 33" W x 18 1/2" D. English, Early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Collection, Knoxville, TN.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Shrinkage cracks to moldings throughout. even fading to velvet interior. A few small scattered replaced spots of molding/veneer. Light wear and abrasions.
