Minton, Lawrence Birks, Pate-Sur-Pate vase on dark brown ground, amphora form, having a flared circular base, scrolled twin handles, and narrow neck all decorated with gilt highlights including bead course, Greek key, and scale patterns; and having slip relief decoration of Venus and Cupid on one side and a wreath of crossed palms and roses on the reverse. Monogrammed "LB" for Lawrence Birks, decorator at Minton's factory working 1871-1894, below relief decoration on front of vase. Fitted as a table lamp mounted with brass mounting topped with a laurel wreath finial. Vase: 12" H. The whole: 27" H x 7" W x 5" D. English, late 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Edward Laudermilk, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition with one small chip to one handle and some flaking to gilt on both handles.
