Chinese Chippendale Style giltwood mirror, having a gesso frame with ornate crest featuring a Chinese figure seated atop a fretwork fence under a carved pagoda; the pagoda has a Prince of Wales feather finial and bell form drop finials along the roofline. The openwork, foliate-carved sides feature bell finials and carved figural birds flanking two columns, resting on a rocaille carved openwork base molding. 63" H x 36" W x 7" D. Early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Richard J. Eskind, Nashville.
CONDITION: Some staining and loss of silvering to mirror glass. Frame is in overall good condition with a few scattered minor breaks and repairs, areas of loss to gesso and some minimal regilding. Back lattice of pagoda possibly added or replaced.
