From "The Continuation of Mr. Rapin's History of England" by Nicolas Tindal. Copper plate engraved map depicting an early and embellished version of the North America continent including English, French, Spanish, and Native American territories with towns, settlements, and forts, bodies of water, mountain ranges, and other points of interest including California or New Albion and several "Indian Towns" represented as islands. Decorative title cartouche and Explanation, lower right, compass rose, top right. "Degrees W from London", top left above map. Map surrounded by scale notations and line border. Typed label, en verso. Matted and housed under glass in a wooden frame. Sight – 15 3/8" H x 19" W. Framed – 24 1/4" H x 27 3/4" W. Mid 18th century. CONDITION: Overall good condition with foxing spots, toning/toning impressions. Not examined outside of frame.
