World War I era patriotic American flag quilt, hand stitched, hand appliqued, and hand pieced with all cotton solid turkey red, navy and white fabric. The design features 48 five-point stars, each outlined and partitioned with hand and machine stitching, and six stripes with elongated cable hand stitching. Solid white backing. Hand-appliqued separate binding on all sides. 84 in. x 68 in. Circa 1920s.
PROVENANCE: Private West Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Two 1-inch medium stains to white stripe on top, near center. Several other larger stains to back. A few scattered thread breaks.
