English, Liverpool, maritime creamware transfer printed pitcher titled HOPE. Decorated with four colored transfer prints depicting a kneeling young woman with an anchor by her feet, clutching her chest as she watches an American ship sail away to one side, and a large American sailing ship to the other side. U. S. Federal Eagle with stars for each state below the spout. 8 1/8" H. 19th century.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition with minor exfoliation to glaze on the spout, a couple of very shallow fleabite to the base, some minor losses to color transfer, primarily to the American sailing ship and eagle, very faint vertical hairline to right side of spout, about 1".
