Mid-19th century quilt attrib. West Tennessee hand applique, pieced and quilted Rose Wreath pattern, consisting of solid cotton fabrics in red, green, “cheddar” orange, a cream back, and thin cotton batting. Quilting is by the piece and applique blocks, otherwise shell quilting in the background throughout. 89 1/2 in. x 90 in. Circa 1850 – 1870.
PROVENANCE: Private West Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Excellent unwashed condition with some slight deterioration, minor spotting, and dye migration. Some staining to the back and surface soiling.
