Piedmont, North Carolina, salt-glazed stoneware pottery jug stamped J.M.HAYS for James Madison Hayes (1832-1922). Ovoid form with a pulled handle applied middle shoulder to the neck and salt-glazed drips near the handle. Stamped J.M.HAYS and 1 on the shoulder denoting the gallon capacity, and four incised lines around the upper shoulder. 10 3/4" H. Late 19th/early 20th century.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition.
