Southern walnut two-drawer Sheraton server, poplar and yellow pine secondary. Consisting of a rectangular top over two scratch-beaded dovetailed drawers with oval brass pulls having a floral design on the top drawer brasses and a Federal eagle with shield design on the bottom drawer brasses. Drawer bottoms are nailed to the bottom of the drawer sides. Case rests on tall, tapered legs terminating in ball spike feet. 40 1/4 In. Height x 42 In. Width x 19 1/2 In. Depth. Possibly East Tennessee or Southwest Virginia, circa 1825.
PROVENANCE: The estate of John Z. C. Thomas, Knoxville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Older surface. The back 1/2 In. edge of the rectangular top could be an old replacement. Inside back edge of top drawer with a 19th-century reinforced board. Lower drawer with old worm damage near bottom front edge.
