Near pair of two (2) Federal period dining side chairs, attributed to New York, both in the Hepplewhite style with carved shield backs, serpentine front rails and matching yellow and blue striped silk upholstery with decorative brass upholstery tacks. One has slightly curved legs, the other has straight legs terminating in spade feet. American, circa 1790. Spade foot chair: 39 5/8" H x 21 1/4" W x 20 1/2" D. Seat Height: 17 1/2" H. Slightly curved cabriole foot: 39 1/2" H x 21" W x 21 1/2" D. Seat Height: 17 3/4" H
PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee, ex-Jamal Hall collection.
CONDITION: Overall good stable condition with a few minor repairs, mostly to seat backs; scattered shrinkage cracks; staining to upholstery.
