Middle Tennessee Federal Sugar Chest, likely Moore County, cherry and poplar secondary. Top with rounded edge molding and breadboard ends, over a dovetailed case with divided interior, over a single dovetailed drawer and four bulbous turned legs terminating in short spike feet. Original round turned wood knobs. 36 1/2 in H x 30 1/2 in W x 17 in D. Circa 1830.
PROVENANCE: Private West Tennessee Collection. By descent in the Holt and Salome Bean Family, Lynchburg, Tennessee area, and acquired by Monty Young Antiques from their granddaughter. 2009 receipt from Monty Young Antiques available to winning bidder.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with old second surface. Full shrinkage cracks to top and sides. Lock replaced. Scratches, wear and scarring, especially to top and corners. Staining to top. Hinges to the top are possibly old replacements.
