Carl Sublett (Tennessee, 1919-2008) graphite and ink on paper drawing depicting a couple in early 20th century clothing standing before a gazebo. Dated and signed "70/Sublett" lower right. Housed and matted under glass in a giltwood frame. Sight: 19" square. Framed: 29" H x 27" W. Biography: Carl Sublett studied Art History at the American Academy in Florence, Italy after World War II, and became Professor of Fine Art at the University of Tennessee. Sublett was a member of the National Academy of Design. His works are in the collections of the National Academy of Design, The Tennessee State Museum, and Cheekwood Museum of Art, Nashville.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carl Klein, Brentwood, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with scattered foxing to mat. Not examined outside of frame.
