Two (2) framed Victorian mixed media collage pictures, featuring engravings of Welsh and English scenery overpainted, cut and mounted in three-dimensional watercolor interior scenes, embellished with fabric and shells. In each, the dogs – Pugs and Corgis- appear to be inside rooms overlooking the countryside (labeled en verso as Dolwyddelan Castle and Godstow, near Oxford). Both housed in wood frames, one featuring a rope border. Sights ranging from 16 1/2" H x 12 1/2" W to 17 1/2" H x 14 3/8" W. Frames ranging from 19 3/4" H x 15 1/4" W to 20 1/4" H x 17 1/4" W. British, Late 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Williamson County, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Both items in overall good condition with scattered glue residue. Pug piece with loss to shell decoration, toning, and foxing spots.
