Yolande Ardissone (France, born 1927) impressionistic oil on canvas marine painting depicting a village settled around a body of water with several ships moored or sailing toward the opposite shore with additional houses, rendered in a heavy impasto technique. Signed "Ardissone" lower left. Belle Meade Framers and Bevelled Edge, Nashville TN label, en verso. Housed in a silver metallic wooden frame. Sight: 23 1/4" H x 28 1/2" W. Framed: 29" H x 33 3/4" W. Biography: "Ardissone was born in Normandy in 1927 to a Ukrainian mother and Italian father. She began her art studies at age seventeen in Paris at the Ecole des Arts Appliques and then enrollments followed at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere, the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Atelier of Unterstellar. She received the Medaille d'Argent from the city of Paris, which also has acquired her work for the city collection." (Adapted from Askart).
