Massachusetts Chippendale mahogany block front secretary, mahogany primary, white pine secondary. Upper section having a broken arch pediment with ogee molding and carved rosettes, turned urn and flame finials, plain frieze above dentil molding. Fluted columns flank paneled doors with shaped surrounds opening to reveal fifteen (15) scalloped pigeonholes and three (3) shelves, base of upper case with two pull out candle slides. Lower section consisting of a slant-top desk, the lid falling forward onto pull-out slides and revealing a shell carved prospect drawer flanked by eight (8) scalloped pigeonholes over a bank of three (3) dovetailed drawers, above four (4) dovetailed graduated block front drawers with Chippendale brass pulls, ogee base molding transitioning into bracket feet with spur returns. Provenance: Estate of Glen and Marjorie Stewart, proprietors of The Keeping Room, Augusta, Georgia. 92" H x 41" W x 21" D. CONDITION: Older surface with restoration to lower sections of bracket feet, one drawer bottom has partial replacement, minor losses to upper left side edge of lower section.
