Early dated stoneware jar, possibly Knox Co., Tennessee. Ovoid form with salt glaze, incised "Sarah Price, 1827 JM". 11 1/2" H. Early 19th century. Note: this jar was displayed in the 1996 "Made in East Tennessee: Pottery" exhibit at The East Tennessee Historical Society, Carole Wahler, guest curator. Condition: Scattered firing flaws, chipping to body. Tight hairline from rim down to shoulder, approximately 3".
