Sterling Boyd Strauser (Pennsylvania, 1907-1995) oil on board painting depicting a corporate league baseball game between the Pennsylvania Pump and Compressor Company, or Penna. Pump, and the International Boiler Works Company, or IBW Co, 1957. A batter awaits a pitch while a catcher and referee kneel or stand before a crowd of spectators. The sky consists of colorful, gestural steaks of pink, orange, and white. Beneath the scene Strauser inscribes the score of 8-2 along with the title "Wait ''Till Next Year." Signed "Strauser" and dated "8/30/57" upper right. Housed in a distressed gilt wood frame. Sight: 17 3/4" H x 23 5/8" W. Frame: 23" H x 29" W.
