Edgar Tolson (Kentucky, 1904-1984) folk or outsider art carved and painted wood sculpture depicting Uncle Sam standing and attired in a patriotic suit and top hat with his right arm raised and index finger pointing, mounted on a green painted square base. Unsigned. 31 1/4 in. total H (w/ base). Circa 1970s.
PROVENANCE: Collection of Don W. Snyder, Louisville, KY; Collection of Ellsworth “Skip” Taylor, Lexington, KY.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with some natural wood shrinkage to the top hat and where the top hat rests on Uncle Sam’s head. Right arm with new glue applied to elbow joint.
