East Tennessee walnut chest of drawers consisting of two over three graduated dovetailed drawers, inlaid escutcheons, turned double lozenge feet with fine ring scoring at the top of the feet. Paneled ends, beveled paneled back, grooved drawer support frames for drawers, yellow pine and poplar secondary woods. Illegible early red script to the back of top right drawer. 46 1/2"H x 40"W x 19 1/2"D. Second quarter of the 19th century, Blount or Knox County, Tennessee. Condition: Minor insect damage to beveled backboards, some insect damage to case interior, replaced oval pulls, wear to drawer sides with some drawer sides built up, inlaid escutcheons with keyholes wax filled, case with minor abrasions and a couple of later white paint spatters.
