Oil on canvas landscape painting with three cows that walk from a small pond toward a pasture before a distant mountain range. The roof of a small house extends above the trees in the center of the composition. Unsigned. Housed in a wooden frame with a gilt fillet. Sight: 9 1/2 in. H x 11 1/2 in. W. Framed: 13 1/2 in. H x 15 3/4 in. W. Probably American, 19th century.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition, with craquelure throughout. Repaired puncture with inpainting and retouching to the sky at upper right, 1 1/2 inches x 1/2 inch, plus several other areas of retouching, primarily to the sky, largest to upper right edge beside repaired puncture, 1 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches.
