Two (2) Peter Milton (American, b. 1930) Surrealist photosensitive ground etchings and engravings from the artist’s portfolio of 21 prints illustrating Henry James’s novel The Jolly Corner, “III:7” and “III:1,” plus copper printing plate for “III:7.” Both signed, dated, titled, and numbered XXI/XXI (outside of the edition of 150 numbered in Arabic numerals) in pencil to lower margins. Both published by Aquarius Press, Baltimore, with publisher’s blindstamp to lower right corners. Item 1: Etching titled “III:7” that depicts a nude woman, construction workers, a cow, a tractor, and other figures. Floated under acrylic together with the original copper printing plate in a hinged bi-fold frame wooden frame (plate is mounted over acrylic). Sheet:19 in. H x 15 in. W. Plate: 15 in. H x 10 in. W. Each Half: 21 1/4 in. H x 17 1/4 in. W. (2 3/4 in. D. when closed). Frame Opened. 21 1/4 in. H x 33 1/2 in. W. x 6 1/4 in. D. (Frame does not fully extend to a flat opened position). 2nd item: Etching titled “III:1” that depicts a man and woman within an architectural setting. Floated under acrylic in a gilt and ebonized wood frame. Sheet: 15 in. H x 19 in. W. Framed: 17 in. H x 20 3/4 in. W.
CONDITION: All items in overall very good condition. Not examined outside of frames.
