A string tied around his neck disappears beneath his vest. Unsigned. Housed in a ornate molded and giltwood frame with foliate ornamentation. Sight: 29 in. H x 24 in. W. Framed: 37 in. H x 32 in. W. Probably European.
PROVENANCE: The estate of James Drury, Lombard, Illinois.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition, canvas has been lined. With localized retouching primarily to background, largest 5 inch x 1/4 inch, upper right. Areas of florescence under UV light along lower edge, in suit, may be from resotoration or irregularities in varnish layer. See UV photography. Negligible craquelure also primarily to background.
