Lot 1165: Karl Mohr O/C European Streetscape

Karl Mohr (German, 1922-2013), oil on canvas European street scene. Peddler carts and early automobiles traverse a cobblestone street, likely in Paris, while figures converse outside a boucherie (butcher shop). Signed K. Mohr lower left. Housed in a molded giltwood and composition frame with pierced and carved Rococo-style corner ornaments, linen mat and gilt sight edge. Stretcher: 20 in. W x 16 in. H. Frame: 27 1/2 in. W x 23 1/2 in. H. 

PROVENANCE: The estate of Ellen DiLovenzo, Franklin, TN.

CONDITION: A couple of flyspecks to the sky area, a small streak of grime upper center near rooftops, and a small 1/4 in. grime spot near the right center edge. Frame with a 2 1/2 in. area of loss to wood at lower center and a few other scattered spots of minor wear and loss.
