Oil on canvas genre painting after the original by Louis Ducis (France, 1775-1847) titled "Napolean Bonaparte with his Nephews and Nieces on the Terrace at Saint-Cloud, 1806". The painting depicts Bonaparte seated on a terrace holding a young child in his lap with three other children standing by him, with a young male standing and leaning against a railing with a younger male playing with soldiers seated by his feet, male figures in the left background and a partial landscape to the right background. Signed in red lower right with a cross monogram and the letters VEE together with SEVRES. Gilt placard lower mid frame edge. Wakefield-Scearce Galleries paper label en verso. Housed in a gilt carved rococo style frame. Sight: 23 1/2" H x 35 1/2" W. Framed: 32" H x 43" W. 20th century.
CONDITION: Painting and frame overall very good condition. Small area of florescence, middle right, approximately 1 1/2" L, visible under UV light inspection.
