Rembrandt van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669) etching depicting a bust-length portrait or tronie of an old man with a long beard and fur cap with eyes closed. Signed and with additional backwards "R" in plate, upper left, with partial Arms of Amsterdam watermark. Inscribed "A" in brown ink en verso, likely an unidentified collector''s mark. Additionally inscribed "130" and "12-15," in pencil to verso. New Hollstein''s second state of four; Usticke''s second state of five. Sheet: 5" H x 4 1/2" W. Plate: 4 7/16" H x 4 1/16" W. CONDITION: A richly-inked, early impression with strong contrasts. With distinct vertical wiping scratches in upper left. Scattered, negligible points of foxing. Faint, 1" L partial dog-ear crease to upper right corner.
