Cassidy was born in Kentucky or Ohio (census records differ) and lived in the Cincinnati area in the early 20th century. One uncle, Gerald Cassidy, is a noted Santa Fe, New Mexico painter of Western and American Indian subjects, and another, Asa Cassidy, worked as a lithographer in New York before embarking on a career as a painter in Florida. Laura Cassidy studied with Cincinnati artists Frank Duveneck, Clement Barnhorn, and Herman Henry Wessel, likely at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. In 1915, she worked as an artist at the photography studio of J. Anthony Bill. Cassidy was a member of the Women’s Art Club of Cincinnati and the California Watercolor Society.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Not examined out of frame.
