Antique Tekke Asmalyk or camel trapping weaving, pentagonal form with embroidered designs throughout, including red hanging blossom designs and a woven batwing border. Woven in red, pink, blue, and brown colors on a cream field. 4 ft. 8 in. x 2 ft. 4 in. Circa 1800, Western Turkmenistan.
PROVENANCE: Private Des Moines, Iowa collection.
CONDITION: Approximate 3″ vertical tear near the top center with an approximate 1 1/2″ horizontal area of loss. Deterioration and losses to pink threads and scattered staining.
