Pair of cast stone planters with shell and lion motifs, from the George W. Callahan family of Knoxville, TN. Square form with tapered rim and base. 14 1/2 in H x 16 in. W. Early 20th century. Note: Supplemental materials include 2 photographs of the planters situated at the Callahan family home, c.1920’s.
PROVENANCE: Irene Sullivan Estate, Oak Ridge, TN descendant of the Callahan family of Knoxville, TN.
CONDITION: Surface level cracks on both and a break to the rim on one. Remnants of white paint, traces of verdigris, and weathering on both.
