1st Item: Reelfoot style duck call with label “Earl Dennison / “The Duck Call Man” / Newbern Tennessee,” circa 1950. Note: Earl Dennison (1889-1968) was a game call maker and designer who grew up and guided on Reelfoot Lake in West Tennessee. After his death, his son and grandson took over the business until the storefront was closed in 1993. (Courtesy of Mossy Oak). 2nd item: Bespoke duck call carved with crosshatch pattern from dark wood featuring the monogram “JHP,” circa 20th century. 3rd item: contemporary carved Blue-winged Teal decoy stamped 30 to the underside. Wood display stand included. Ranging in size from 5 1/2″ H x 1 1/2″ W to 4 1/2″ H x 11 1/4″ W.
PROVENANCE: Living Estate of Sally Johnson Harlan.
CONDITION: Both calls are non-functional due to the internal reed being seized or frozen against the tonal board. Both calls are unable to be opened due to tight fit caused by wood expansion (no attempts have been made to force either item open). 1st item: Overall good condition with slight wear to the label. 2nd item: Overall good condition with slight wear to edges. 3rd item: Overall good condition with light general wear.
