Thirteen (13) framed Japanese woodblock prints, including military and naval themes. Includes three (3) depicting groups or processions of warriors, one (1) depicting a foot soldier and a horseman in combat, one (1) depicting a ship at sea, two (2) depicting figures amid landscapes, and six (6) depicting female figures or courtesans in various interior and exterior environments. Some with Japanese characters. All housed and matted under glass in silvered wood frames. Sights ranging from 10" x 7" to14 1/8" H x 9 3/4" W. Frames ranging from 14 1/4" H x 12 1/8" W to 19 3/8" H x 14 7/8" W. Early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Colors bright and strong. Margins trimmed. All prints with overall creasing and scattered tears and losses to edges.
